How does the equipment get emptied? The hosting location will remove and dispose of the collection bag and replace it with recycled bags provided by us. It is a very quick and easy process, and can be performed by a company’s custodial personnel.
Who maintains the equipment? Fortunately, the shredder is highly dependable and rugged; virtually maintenance-free. It only requires a small amount of lubricant spread across the head of the unit every week or so, depending upon the level of use. The lubricant comes with the unit and refills are provided free of cost.
Will the machine use a lot of electricity? The whole system runs very efficiently, the monitor has a timer and can be programmed to shut down when directed. The total electricity usage is typically no more than an office computer.
What if the shredder gets jammed? The machine will shut itself down if you try to feed too many pages simultaneously. Simply press the red reverse button located on top of the shredder; the shredding heads will reverse the paper’s direction and clear the jam.
Is it safe? What about fingers and clothing? Yes, normal operation of the machine is safe. Even then, the shredding blades sit approximately 3 inches below the paper feed opening. The opening is 1/8th of an inch wide; the typical adult’s finger is 3/8ths of an inch wide. Those with fingers small enough to fit into the opening should in all likelihood not be long enough to reach the blades.
